Day 1: Foundation & Core Skills

  • Personal experience stories from the instructor(s).

• Tattoo Machines & Tools

  • Explanation of rotary and coil tattoo machines, their differences, and how to use them.

  • How to set up your machine properly.

  • Proper needle selection and why it’s important for specific tattoos.

  • Cleaning and maintaining equipment (beyond the basics).

• Health and Safety Standards

  • Proper sterilization techniques.

  • Setting up a hygienic workspace.

  • Understanding bloodborne pathogens and the necessary precautions.

Afternoon Session: Techniques & Drawing

• Linework & Shading

  • How to create crisp, clean lines.

  • Shading techniques: smooth gradients, dotwork, and soft transitions.

  • Practice on synthetic skin or fruit (bananas, for example).

• Design Fundamentals

  • Sketching and adapting designs for tattoos.

  • How to create simple, but effective tattoo designs.

  • Planning compositions and placement on the body.

• Live Demonstration (Instructor)

  • The instructor can tattoo on a model or fake skin, demonstrating the techniques discussed earlier.

  • Focus on lines, shading, and design application.

Day 2: Advanced Techniques & Client Interaction

Morning Session: Advanced Techniques

• Color Theory & Application

  • How to use color in tattooing (e.g., saturation, contrast, and blending).

  • Working with bold traditional colors vs. subtle shades in realism.

  • How to layer colors for depth and dimension.

• Tattoo Styles Deep Dive

  • Traditional & Neo-Traditional Tattooing: Bold outlines, vibrant colors, and strong imagery.

  • Black & Grey Realism: How to create lifelike textures, shadows, and gradients.

  • Geometric & Abstract Styles: How to approach symmetry, precision, and line work.

  • Watercolor Tattoos: Working with soft, splashy ink techniques.

• Working with Different Skin Types

  • Understanding how different skin textures affect the outcome.

  • Tips for tattooing on different areas of the body (hands, feet, ribs).

Afternoon Session: Practical Application & Client Interaction

• Stencil Techniques & Freehand Drawing

  • How to create and apply stencils for tattoo placement.

  • Freehand drawing on the body—tips and tricks.

  • Participants practice tattooing under supervision (on fake skin or real models if appropriate).
